13 Saudi Engineers to Run 1st Integrated Center Monitoring Energy Efficiency
Riyadh, The Energy Efficiency Center (GOC), established by the Saudi Electricity Company, in Dammam, is the first comprehensive and integrated center for monitoring, managing and operating generation plants, in the world.
It combines all operations of managing stages of power generation, in one center, instead of several, thus enables the company to improve management and operation of its own generation plants.
"The establishment of the center is part of a strategic transformation plan adopted by the company since 2014 to reach out to the world's leading companies, in the field of electric power," Khalid Al-Taaimi, Executive Vice President of Generation Department, at the company said, adding that the center aims to implement a number of high-level technical operations, by taking advantage of the operational data of the stations to maintain the company's assets and to manage them efficiently and reliably, raising the generation process to global standards' level and optimizing the utilization of energy resources of all kinds.
Al-Taaimi explained that the establishment of the center will enable Saudi Electricity to achieve a number of strategic objectives, the most important of which is to have the first unified knowledge center to collect operating data for generation stations and analyze them, monitor the performance and optimal use of fuel, in addition to reducing the operational costs of stations.
It can also provide technical support to stations around the clock and it could also allow the company to manage plant assets more efficiently than before the establishment of the center, he concluded.
