PALESTINIAN ADMINISTRATIVE DETAINEE DIES IN ISRAELI DETENTION AFTER HEALTH DETERIORATION

Palestinian administrative detainee in Israeli jails, Mustafa Mohammad Abu Arrah, 63, passed away last night due to a severe deterioration in his health, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) and the Palestinian Authority’s Commission for Prisoners’ Affairs.

Abu Arrah, a former prisoner who had been arrested multiple times since 1990, was married and the father of seven children, one of whom is also imprisoned. He was rearrested on October 30, 2023, despite suffering from serious and chronic health issues that required close medical supervision.

Upon his arrest, Abu Arrah, like other detainees, faced unprecedented crimes and procedures, including torture, starvation, and medical neglect, which are central causes of death among prisoners in Israeli detention facilities, according to the two organizations.

The Commission and PPS described Abu Arrah’s death as a slow execution, executed through the denial of necessary medical treatment. They condemned this as part of a broader pattern of system
atic violence and genocide orchestrated by Israeli authorities, with public endorsement from extremist Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has advocated for lethal measures against prisoners.

They held the Israeli Prison Service fully responsible for Abu Arrah’s death and the well-being of all detainees, which number over 9,700, not including those from Gaza.

Restrictions and beatings – 35 thousand worshipers perform Friday prayers in Al-Aqsa

Tens of thousands of worshipers performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, while hundreds were prevented from entering Al-Aqsa due to restrictions imposed on young men and boys in particular.

The Islamic Endowments Department estimated the number of worshipers in Al-Aqsa at 35,000 worshipers.

The occupation forces prevented hundreds of Palestinian and foreign worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa, and assaulted many of them by beating and pushing them to keep them away from the vicinity of Al-Aqsa.

The forces also prevented foreign Muslims from entering Al-Aqsa.

The forces also attacked the young men and forcibly removed them from the Old City of Jerusalem, and pursued them through its alleys to prevent them from hearing the sermon and praying through the minarets of Al-Aqsa and performing prayers on its steps.

While the deportees and those banned from entering performed the prayer at the nearest point they could reach.

Since October 7, the occupation authorities have imposed strict restrictions on the ent
ry of worshipers to Al-Aqsa. At the beginning of the first months of the war, the ban was imposed on everyone and on all days. After the restrictions were eased during the month of Ramadan and entry to Al-Aqsa was allowed, immediately after the end of the holy month, the restrictions returned on Fridays and during religious holidays and occasions, and young men and boys are particularly banned.
