Fatah Southern Region completes preparations to receive prisoners Brigadier General Mahmoud Abu Saleh and Brigadier General Rateb Al-Hreibat

The Fatah movement in the southern region has completed its preparations to receive its imprisoned sons, who will be released next Tuesday, Brigadier General Mahmoud Abu Saleh and Brigadier General Rateb Al-Hreibat, after 22 years of detention in the occupation’s prisons.

The movement had held a series of extensive meetings to set a program, arrangements and reception activities, the last of which was at the region’s headquarters, in the presence of the region’s secretary, Iyad Rayyan, and members of the region, the Dura organizational area, and Dura institutions represented by the mayor of Dura, Muhannad Amro, the Fatah leader Salem Abu Saleh, the families of the prisoners, Abu Saleh and Al-Haribat, the directors of the security services, the Prisoners’ Club, the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority, and the friends of the prisoners.

The reception will be in the courtyard of the Martyrs of Dura Cultural Center after their arrival at the As-Sabaa crossing, passing through the city of Dhahiriya, and then visiting t
he cemetery to recite Al-Fatiha for the souls of their parents and relatives who have passed away to the mercy of God, while they are in captivity and are martyrs of Palestine. After that, they will visit the home of prisoner Mahmoud Dudin, and after that, there will be a grand reception in the courtyard of the Martyrs of Dura Cultural Center with a magnificent official and popular presence in honor of these prisoners and their great sacrifices. Three speeches will be delivered in the name of the Fatah Movement and the Municipality of Dura, and a speech by the prisoners.

The Fatah Movement in the Southern Region called on all its cadres, members, supporters and families of prisoners to adhere to the agreed upon program and to prevent going to the As-Sabaa crossing and to prevent shooting, firecrackers and celebratory manifestations in response to the prisoners’ request, in light of the aggression our people are subjected to in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as the general national orientation in t
he movement and the most heinous types of torture to which prisoners are subjected by limiting activities to reception, away from the festivals and activities followed before the declaration of war on our people in Gaza. The

Fatah Movement called on all media outlets to be present to cover the reception ceremonies and expose the occupation’s practices against what our heroic prisoners are subjected to.

Preparations for the International Return Film Festival next month are complete

Preparations for the eighth edition of the International Return Film Festival, which will be called the “South Africa Edition”, have been completed. 93 films from 31 countries have been received, all of which dealt with Palestinian national issues, most notably the issue of Jerusalem, refugees and prisoners.

The head of the festival’s preparatory committee in the West Bank, Abdullah Musleh, said that the eighth session of the festival will be held on 8/1/2024 in Australia, Cairo, Morocco, the West Bank, and among the displacement tents in Mawasi Khan Yunis.

Musleh added that the festival presents an international event in light of the exceptional circumstances that Palestine is experiencing, and leaves an artistic space for cultural and cognitive exchange, and attracts creative actors, directors, writers and filmmakers from inside and outside the Arab world to display their artistic and creative works in a cinematic panorama to compete among themselves to obtain the Key of Return Award, according to criter
ia carefully set by the jury, which consists of: the distinguished artist Abeer Issa, head of the jury, the film critic Laila Balrahoma, a member of the jury from Tunisia, and the media and filmmaker Nabila Razayek, a member of the jury from Algeria.

He pointed out that the festival offers many awards to the winning films, including: the Return Key Award for the best film that talks about the right of return in the name of the freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, the Return Key Award for the best film that talks about the issue of prisoners in the name of the martyred prisoner Walid Daqqa, the Return Key Award for the best film that talks about humanity in the name of Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the Return Key Award for the best film that talks about the issue of Jerusalem in the name of the late Faisal Al-Husseini.

SECURITY UPDATE: ENEMY ARTILLERY SHELLING OF AREA NEAR BIRKAT AL-NAQQAR ON OUTSKIRTS OF SHEBAA, PHOSPHOROUS BOMBARDMENT OF SURROUNDINGS OF HIMA RASHAYA AL-FAKHAR

National News Agency correspondent reported that 4 artillery shells fell on the area near Birkat al-Naqqar on the outskirts of the town of Shebaa.

The surroundings of Hima Rashaya al-Fakhar had also been subjected to phosphorous shelling, originating from the enemy positions set up inside the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

The occupation forces detain citizens and storm several areas in Bethlehem

On Friday, the occupation forces detained citizens and stormed various areas in Bethlehem.

A security source reported that the occupation forces detained Yousef Ibrahim Abdullah Alian and Hussein Mahmoud Hussein Abayat for long hours while they were herding sheep in the village of Kisan to the east.

In the same context, the occupation forces stormed the village of Husan to the west, searched citizens’ vehicles, and fired sound bombs and toxic gas at them. They also stormed the village of Marah Ma’la to the south, and the village of Al-Jab’a to the south, and distributed threatening leaflets to citizens in the event that they approach the racist annexation wall adjacent to the village and sitting on their lands.

WHO sends one million polio vaccines to Gaza

General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced in a press release that vaccines will be given to children in the coming weeks, noting that no cases of polio have been recorded so far, but without immediate action, it is “only a matter of time before it reaches thousands of children who have been left unprotected.”

Humanitarian workers have expressed deep concern about the impact of a potential polio emergency in Gaza, amid catastrophic health conditions marked by outbreaks of hepatitis A and countless other preventable diseases, as well as lack of access to health care, due to the war.

A fire broke out in Ashkelon after the resistance bombarded it

Israeli Channel 13 reported that a fire broke out on the beach of the Ashkelon settlement after rockets were fired from Gaza.

Saraya al-Quds said that it bombed the city of Ashkelon and the settlements surrounding Gaza with a barrage of rockets.

Palestinian media reported the launch of a “large rocket barrage” and the hearing of “explosions.”

She reported that sirens sounded in Ashkelon and settlements in the Gaza Strip.
