Bahrain to host Fourth Arab Artificial Intelligence Forum 2024

Manama, The Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the General Sports Authority (GSA), will hold the Fourth Arab Artificial Intelligence Forum 2024 from August 18-22, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of GSA and the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

HH Shaikh Khalid emphasised the Kingdom’s ongoing support of young talents and skills, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

HH Shaikh Khalid noted the importance of the forum in providing opportunities for Bahraini, Arab, and international youth to direct their future aspirations to technology and AI domains.

HH highlighted that the organisation of this forum comes within the framework of the cooperative efforts between GSA and the Ministry of Interior to provide the youth with the opportunity to d
evelop their capabilities in the field of modern technology.

HH Shaikh Khalid emphasised his support for all efforts to empower Bahraini and Arab youth to demonstrate their abilities in technology and AI.

HH said that the conference aims to establish channels of communication with youth groups locally and globally, directing their energies to benefit themselves and society.

Interior Minister receives Korean Ambassador

Manama, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Interior Minister, received HeonSang Koo, the Korean Ambassador to Bahrain.

Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, the Chief of Public Security, attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed cooperation in general safety, civil protection, and topics of common interest to promote security cooperation.

Amir of Qatar receives Bahraini ambassador’s credentials

Doha, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, received the credentials of Ambassador Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bahrain to Qatar.

The ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and their wishes for the State of Qatar and its people’s further progress and prosperity.

His Highness the Amir requested the ambassador to convey his greetings to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, wishing the ambassador success in carrying out his diplomatic duties.

Joint aquaculture project launched by Supreme Council for Environment and National Guard

Manama, The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) and the National Guard have launched a joint aquaculture project.

The launch event was attended by Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs; Lieutenant General Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Khalifa, the National Guard Staff Director; and Rear Admiral Mohammed Yousif Al Asam, Director of Military Cooperation, along with other officials.

The Oil Minister emphasised the council’s commitment to collaborating with various sectors to protect marine species and promote sustainable development. He explained that the aquaculture project aims to protect and increase fish stocks in Bahrain. SCE will provide suitable tanks and locations for fish fry and eggs supplied by the National Guard, along with live feed, fodder, and other aquaculture costs.

The National Guard Staff Director expressed appreciation for the strategic partnership between the National Guard and SCE. He noted that the project exemplifi
es cooperation among sectors to safeguard Bahrain’s fish stocks.

The initiative includes organising courses, lectures, and workshops on marine environment topics to exchange expertise and enhance aquaculture practices.

BFA President: Bahrain fully supports Saudi Arabia’s bid to host 2034 FIFA World Cup

Manama, Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), affirmed Bahrain’s full support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

Shaikh Ali underscored that Saudi Arabia has all the necessary attributes to successfully host the world’s biggest football event. He emphasised the strong ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, reflecting the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He noted that Saudi Arabia’s initiative to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup aligns with the vision of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, marking a milestone in the country’s sports development.

Baghdad, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed the depth of relations between Iraq and Iran, and the importance of proceeding with the agreements concluded between the two countries.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement: “Al-Sudani met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, in the capital, Tehran, which he arrived at earlier today, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president.

Al-Sudani congratulated Mr. Khamenei, wishing continued prosperity for the Islamic Republic of Iran, government and people, on the occasion of its election of a new president, and overcoming the ordeal of the tragic incident that led to the death of the late President Ibrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister and their companions.

The Prime Minister stressed the depth of relations between Iraq and Iran, and the importance of proceeding with the agreements concluded between the two countries, in a way that achieves common interests in all fields.

Amani Al Obaidli Sets New Bahraini and Personal Best at Paris 2024 Olympics


Paris, Bahrain’s 18-year-old swimmer Amani Al Obaidli, born in 2006, made an impressive debut in her first Olympic appearance by competing in the women’s 100m backstroke qualification on the third day of the Olympic Games, which are being held in Paris until August 11.

Amani Al Obaidli finished sixth in the qualifying round of the women’s 100-metre backstroke, setting a new Bahraini and personal best time of 1:04.27.

Amani Al Obaidli concluded her Olympic journey without qualifying for the second stage of the race, but she garnered widespread respect for her impressive performance. At just a young age, she emerged as a promising Bahraini champion, bolstered by her numerous medals at the Arab level and her strong presence in the GCC Swimming Championship.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and head of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation to the 2024 Paris Olympics, attended the swimming competitions in Paris. He was accompanied by Faris Musta

On the other hand, the national swimming team member, Saud Salah Ghali, will begin his participation in the men’s 200 metres backstroke qualification at the Paris Olympic Games at 12:45 PM (1:45 PM Bahrain time) at the Paris La Villette Arena.

Saud Salah Ghali, who is in Hungary on a study and sports scholarship as part of the Olympic Committee’s Champion Making programme, is looking to set a new personal best in the 200m backstroke after he took part in the World Aquatic Games in Qatar a few months ago and finished the race in 2:21.94.

Since his international debut in 2016, Saud Salah Ghali has won several medals at the GCC level, including bronze at the 13th GCC Short Course Championships in Doha in 2016, bronze at the GCC Aquatics Championships in Dammam in 2016, bronze at the 14th GCC Short Course Championships in Doha in 2017, and gold at the 27th GCC Aquatics Championships in Kuwait in 2019.

At t
he Arab level, Saud Salah Ghali won gold at the Arab Junior Championship in Morocco in 2019, two gold medals and a silver at the first Arab Short Course Championship in Abu Dhabi in 2021, and two silver medals at the first Arab Junior Aquatics Championship in Egypt in 2022.

The Bahrain Swimming Association is counting on Saud Salah Ghali to become a future champion at the continental and international levels, given his potential and professional experience at the University of Hungary.

In the first appearance of Bahraini judo at the Olympic Games, Askerbii Gerbekov is hoping to achieve a positive result when he competes in the round of 32 in the U81kg weight category at 10:28 AM (11:28 AM Bahrain time) on Tuesday.

Gerbekov prepared for his Olympic participation in an exciting atmosphere through two training camps, the first in Spain and the second in Sochi, Russia.

The preparatory programme for Askerbi’s Olympic participation is supervised by Khalid Nabil Al Arifi, the Technical Director and National Coac
h of the Bahrain Judo Federation.

Gerbekov has a distinguished judo resume with many achievements in recent years, making him eligible to compete effectively if the draw and circumstances are favorable.

Under the competition’s knockout system, a victory will allow Gerbekov to progress to the last 16 and continue his journey in the tournament, while a defeat will lead to an early elimination.
