Berri welcomes Lebanese American University President Michel Mawad on farewell visit


House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday received Dr. Michel Mawad, President of the Lebanese American University (LAU), at the second presidential residence in Ain al-Tineh. The visit, which marked the end of Dr. Mawad’s tenure as president, was attended by a delegation including Dr. Elie Badr, Vice President for Business Development and Global Affairs; Roy Majdalani, Vice President for Administration; and Saad El Zein, Head of Strategic Communications at LAU.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss various issues, particularly those related to education and higher learning.

Al-Sudani Confirms The Continuation Of Service And Strategic Projects And The Completion Of Traffic Congestion Relief Projects/ More

Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the continuation of service and strategic projects and the completion of traffic congestion relief projects.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office stated: Al-Sudani inaugurated today, Monday, via a television circuit, three important service projects in Baghdad, as follows:

1- The Baghdad City Entrance Project, from the side of the governorates (Diyala – Kirkuk), after its rehabilitation and maintenance with standard specifications for highways, and its expansion from 10m to 16m.

2- The Nahrawan Water Project, southeast of Baghdad, with a production capacity of 4000 m3/hour, which is one of the projects that have been stalled since 2012, and addresses the water shortage in the Nahrawan district.

3- A group of bridges built on the Army Canal east of Baghdad, linking Jamila area towards Al-Jihad Street (Bab Al-Muadham), within the projects of the first package to relieve traffic congestion in the capital, Baghdad.

During the inauguration, he praised t
he efforts of all parties involved in completing these vital projects in the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Baghdad Municipality, Baghdad Governorate, and the implementing companies, stressing the need to expedite the completion of traffic congestion relief projects, in order to achieve a qualitative shift in reconstruction and development projects, since the people of Baghdad bore the burden of congestion and road closures that accompanied these projects. He also stressed the government’s continuation in completing stalled projects, especially vital and strategic projects.

Al-Sudani said: We trust our technical and engineering staff to complete traffic congestion relief projects as soon as possible, and we salute all the teams that contributed to the implementation.

He added that since the beginning of the government’s duties, we have emphasized the file of Baghdad entrances; because of the suffering and harm they represent when entering Baghdad, in addition to traffic accidents and wasted time, and
today we are completing entrance number one, and the rest of the entrances will follow, and we directed Baghdad Municipality and Baghdad Governorate to expedite the completion of the work of the rest of the entrances.

Al-Sudani stressed the need to preserve these roads by adhering to weighing stations and holding violators accountable.

He explained that large sums of money were spent, and as a result of the actions of some truck drivers, these roads are being destroyed.

He stressed that the Nahrawan water project serves more than 350,000 people, and the water scarcity has caused some residents to leave the area.

He continued: We have made the stalled projects a goal in front of us in order to complete them, and we completed the water project after addressing the legal and technical issues, and we also laid the foundation stone a few months ago for a large project in Nahrawan for sewage networks and a treatment plant, in order for the infrastructure in all neighborhoods of Nahrawan to be at a decent level.

Al-Sudani appreciated the efforts of the workers in these three sites, and we are waiting for more, because we promised our people to complete the stalled projects, complete the new projects, and complete the infrastructure.

PM congratulates completion of three projects in Baghdad

Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani congratulated the completion of the three projects in Baghdad.

The Prime Minister said during the inauguration of several projects in Baghdad via television: We completed these projects with work, enthusiasm and the spirit of one team.

The Prime Minister explained: We are required to complete the completion of the remaining projects, including relieving bottlenecks in Baghdad.

Al-Sudani directed to expedite the completion of the remaining entrances to the capital, Baghdad.

The Prime Minister said: Since the first day the government began its work, we stressed the importance of the entrances to the capital, Baghdad.

The Prime Minister called for preserving the roads by adhering to the weighing stations and holding violators accountable.

Al-Sudani said, “Our goal is to complete the infrastructure in Nahrawan and the rest of the regions.”

The Prime Minister said: The Nahrawan water project is important and has been referred twice due to procrastination and problems.

Mikati highlights ongoing efforts to address crisis, diplomatic push for peace


Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Monday affirmed that all the Lebanese ministries and institutions are collaborating with international organizations and civil society to implement measures outlined in the government’s emergency plan to tackle current challenges and potential scenarios.

Moreover, the PM emphasized active diplomatic efforts on multiple fronts to halt Israeli threats against Lebanon and to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

Mikati further stressed that the Lebanese government’s recent framework for long-term stability in southern Lebanon aims to reduce escalation, prevent destructive violence, and ensure a decisive international role in de-escalating tensions and curbing ongoing Israeli aggression.

The PM then underscored that the application of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 remains central to ensuring stability and security in southern Lebanon. He confirmed that Lebanon is working with relevant countries on extending the mandate of the UNIFIL forces without changes and reiterated
that cooperation between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL is crucial.

Mikati finally dismissed claims of disputes and highlighted that any issues arising during mission execution are promptly addressed, affirming Lebanon’s commitment to UNIFIL’s mandate.
