The head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front and the head of the National Wisdom Movement discuss the situation in Kirkuk

The head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, head of the United Iraqi Turkmen Front list, Hassan Turan, met with the head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, in the capital, Baghdad.

During the meeting, which was attended by Faryad Tuzlu, head of the Turkmen Loyalty Movement, the political developments at the national level were reviewed, and the files and issues of mutual interest were discussed, and the emphasis was placed on strengthening the partnership and meeting the needs and aspirations of the Iraqi people.

During the meeting, the crisis of forming the local government in Kirkuk and the deliberate exclusion of the Turkmen component were discussed, and Turan renewed his categorical rejection of unilateral policies, stressing that the people of Kirkuk are not ready to go back through exclusionary policies.

During the meeting, Ammar al-Hakim stressed his full support for achieving the legitimate demands of the Turkmen component, which serve the democratic process and consolidate peace and coexist
ence between the components.

Turan called on the national forces to take into account the specificity of the province, and to deal with it with a national spirit and high responsibility, especially at the current stage, and that the Kirkuk issue is greater than quotas and positions, but rather it is a national issue and a guarantee for the security and stability of Iraq and the region, and the participation of all the sons of Kirkuk’s components in its administration must be guaranteed according to the mechanisms approved by the constitution and national legislation.

Kirkuk Council Member: Kirkuk Governor to Hand Over Post to Turkmen, Then Arabs on December 31, 2025

Kirkuk Provincial Council member for the Arab component, Raad Saleh Al-Jubouri, said that Kirkuk Governor Ribwar Taha will leave his post at the end of 2025, and the position will be handed over to a governor from the Turkmen component for a year, then an Arab candidate will assume the position of governor until the end of the electoral session in late 2027, stressing that the parties that attended the governor election session are committed to this agreement.

He expressed his surprise at the Turkmen component’s objection to the results of the session “although they were part of the position rotation agreement” that will include the positions of the governor, his two deputies, the council chairman and his two deputies.

He said that the understanding with the Kurdistan Democratic Party also stipulated that the position of governor be granted to the Kurds first.

Foreign Minister arrives in Ankara

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Hussein said in a post on the (X) platform: “We arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, to hold a number of important meetings, including a meeting with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and we will discuss a number of issues of common interest, most notably the security aspect and combating terrorism, in addition to enhancing cooperation and coordination in the interest of our two countries.”

PM: Zionist aggression on Gaza threatens stability of the region and the world

Prime Minister, Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani stressed today, Wednesday, that the Zionist aggression on Gaza threatens the stability of the region and the world.

Al-Sudani said – in a speech during his attendance at the joint prayer to end the aggression on Gaza, at the Chaldean Church of St. Joseph in central Baghdad: “The systematic targeting and genocide in Gaza is taking place in the face of international silence, and we are in dire need of unity.”

He added, “More than 10 months have passed and killing and destruction are targeting the Palestinians,” stressing that “the statement of the supreme authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, clearly indicated the brutality of the crimes of the Zionist entity in Gaza, which has become a threat to the stability of the region and the world.”

He concluded by saying: “We will not allow any party to tamper with the security of Iraq.”

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani had attended, on Wednesday afternoon, the joint prayer to end the aggression on Ga
za and achieve stability in the region, at the Chaldean Church of St. Joseph in central Baghdad.

Foreign Minister Holds Talks in London with UK Foreign Secretary

London, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met here today with British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Lammy, with whom he discussed ties and means to enhance them, as well as the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, foremost among which in Gaza Strip.
