Abi Lamaa: Bassil acting as organizer of government formation process

MP Eddy Abi Lamaa from the "Strong Republic" bloc, on Wednesday said that Caretaker Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, was not the sole responsible for the government formation delay, but that he was acting as an "organizer" of this process.

"Bassil has declared himself the decisionmaker regarding the government formation, and entitled to distribute ministerial shares," the lawmaker told an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station.

"Bassil is not the sole responsible for the delay, but he is acting as one of the formation's organizers," he said.

Besides, Abi Lamaa maintained that the Maarab agreement was still effective.

"Any talk about the termination of this agreement does not help solve the issue," he stressed.
