An air target destroyed west of Damascus
BAGHDAD, Syrian Air Defenses destroyed an air target yesterday west of Damascus.
The Syrian News Agency quoted a military source as saying that the air defenses had responded to a "hostile target" and destroyed it west of Damascus.
The Agency did not immediately give details on the nature of the target, but Damascus usually accuses Israel of targeting military sites in Syria with air strikes.
Israeli media sources said the Israeli air force carried out an air strike on Thursday night on the Syrian-controlled part of the Golan Heights, targeting a number of armed elements, killing seven gunmen.
In recent months, Israel has launched a number of raids on Syrian military sites, including bases for Iranian groups.
