Aoun meets al Ghanim, hails Lebanese Kuwaiti relations as deeply rooted
President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, on Friday hailed the deeply rooted Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations as a natural translation of the brotherly and friendly ties linking between Lebanon and Kuwait.
President Aoun's fresh words came during his meeting at the Baabda palace with visiting Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
"The constant interest shown by the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in Lebanon and the Lebanese reflects Kuwait's keenness to support Lebanon in regional and international forums and work to maintain its stability, security and economy," Aoun said.
Aoun brought to attention the positions of Sheikh Al-Sabah during the past crises endured by Lebanon, especially during his chairmanship of the Arab Tripartite Commission, which was tasked by the Arab Summit to find solutions to the situation prevailing in Lebanon at the crisis time.
Aoun extended his greetings to Kuwait's Emir, wishing Kuwait and Kuwaiti people further progress and prosperity under the leadership of the Emir, Kuwaiti government and the National Assembly.
The President hailed the leading role played by Kuwait in its approach towards the Arab crises, notably in its tireless efforts to find peaceful and just solutions to these predicaments.

On the other hand, Aoun expressed his happiness to see the Kuwaiti brothers coming to Lebanon to spend the summer on its safe and stable territories.
Ghanim conveyed to President Aoun the greetings of the Amir of Kuwait, wishing him succes in leading the country towards safety and stability.
Ghanim underlined Kuwait's continual support for Lebanon in the various fields.
"Kuwaiti people will never forget that Lebanon was the first country condemning the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990," Ghanim brought to attention, stressing the "brotherly and friendly" relations between the Kuwaiti and Lebanese peoples.
Aoun and Ghanim tackled during the meeting an array of hour issues on the Lebanese, Arab and regional arena.
In reply to a question about the date to lift the travel ban for Gulf nationals to Lebanon, Ghanim stressed that there had never been travel ban for Kuwaiti citizens to Lebanon .
"There are 14 or 15 full to capacity flights between Kuwait and Lebanon on daily basis," he corroborated, noting that additional flights are needed to accommodate the number of passengers
On the other hand, Aoun met with former Sidon Municipality head, Abdel Rahman al-Bizri, with talks reportedly touching on the current situation in the city of Sidon and its stringent needs.
Among Baabda presidential palace's itinerant visitors for today had been the newly appointed Lebanese Ambassador to Yemen, Hadi Jaber.
