Arab Reading Challenge winners honoured

Students who excelled in the qualifications to the 3rd Arab Reading Challenge were honoured in recognition of their outstanding performance.

Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi patronized the ceremony, which was held at the University of Bahrain (UoB) Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Hall.

The event was attended by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Bahrain Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Arab Reading Challenge Secretary-General Najla Al-Shamsi.

Dr. Al-Nuaimi paid tribute to UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum for launching the Arab Reading challenge which attracted more than 50,000 students in the third edition, up from 18,000 competitors when it made its debut.

He stressed the ministry-led efforts to encourage public and private schools to take part in the pan-Arab reading contest, commended the students who performed well in the local qualifications in Bahrain.

He commended the achievement of Al-Eman Private School � Girls' Section, which ranked first in the second edition, outclassing 41,000 Arab schools.

Arab Reading Challenge Secretary-General Najla Al-Shamsi addressed the ceremony, hailing the official enthusiastic support to the pan-Arab competition in Bahrain.
