Bahrain-GSI cooperation discussed

New York, Cabinet Affairs Ministter Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa and Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar met at the United Nations headquarters today with President of New York-based Global Security Institute (GSI) Jonathan Granoff. The meeting was attended by Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Jamal Al Ruwai.

The Cabinet Affairs Minister lauded the institute's contribution to holding many peace-related functions, including mainly the culture of nuclear non proliferation around the world. He affirmed keenness of the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, to back efforts to maintain global peace and stability.

Holding an annual forum reflecting Bahrain's contribution to boosting regional security and stability was also discussed. The function will coincide with the UN General Assembly's meetings which start in mid September of every year.

As per an agreement with GSI, the institute will invite keynote speakers concerned with development and peace as well as renowned personalities and senior officials participating in the General Assembly meetings to express their viewpoints on the best ways to achieve sustainable peace, security and stability around the world.

Jonathan Granoff hailed cooperation with Bahrain to promote international peace and stability, praising the climate of openness and co-existence in Bahrain which turned it into a model to emulate in the world. He affirmed that during his visit to Bahrain, he got informed about the government's efforts, spearheaded by HRH the Premier, to fast-track development and promote openness. He expressed hope cooperation between GSI and Bahrain will help mirror the kingdom's civilisation and climate of peace and co-existence.
