36th Session of Arab Interior Ministers Council Held in Tunisia
Tunis, The 36th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers was held here today under the patronage of Tunisia's President Beji Caid Essebsi.
Saudi Arabia's delegation to the session was led by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Honorary President of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
During the session, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
He also thanked the Tunisian President for patronizing the Council's session and the Tunisian people for their hospitality and warm welcome. He also thanked Tunisian Minister of Interior Hichem Fourati for opening the meeting.
"Since its establishment, our Council has endeavored to contribute to promoting the concept of joint Arab action through the Council's efforts and activities that aim at protecting the security and stability of our countries. Today, however, we witness conditions and changes in our Arab region, as foreign interferences, topped by the Iranian interference, represent the main threat to our countries and societies," Prince Abdulaziz said.
"I am very confident that your distinguished Council feels the seriousness of the situation and is working hard to prevent these dangers and threats," he added.
"Terrorism and extremism are a direct threat to the entire world, and we must strive tirelessly to intensify efforts and coordination to strongly and effectively response to these threats, while continuing to drain the sources of financing terrorism and extremism," the Saudi minister of interior said.
Then, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz received the rotatory presidency of the 36th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers from the President of the Council's previous session Algerian Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning Noureddine Badawi.
