Asian Shares Fall
Tokyo, Stocks were mostly lower Thursday in Asia after weakness in technology companies shares led an overnight decline on Wall Street.
The Shanghai Composite index added 0.2% to 3,380.10. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index slipped 0.5% to 26,364.51 and the Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo gave up 0.3% to 26,735.63. In South Korea, the Kospi edged 0.1% lower to 2,754.20. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.6% to 6,687.00, AP reported.
In other trading, U.S. benchmark crude oil gained 29 cents to $45.81 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It lost 8 cents to $45.52 per barrel on Wednesday.
Brent crude, the international standard, added 18 cents to $49.04 per barrel.
The dollar strengthened to 104.48 Japanese yen from 104.24 yen late Wednesday. The euro rose to $1.2093 from $1.2083.
