Barzani Bloc: We Agreed With The Representatives Of Provinces To Reject The Budget
Baghdad, The Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc confirmed that the 17% of the Kurdistan region in the federal budget is a consensual proportion, although it is illegal, indicating that the amendment of that percentage must be by consensus.
The MP for the bloc, Ahmed al-Saffar, said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), "The Kurdistan Democratic bloc rejects the budget as currently drafted, so we called for changes and full amendments to it," noting that "the draft prepared by the previous government, which no longer take over currently, and in line with the new government curriculum approved by parliament. "
Al-Saffar, a member of the parliamentary finance committee, said that "the Democratic Party bloc agreed with the other Kurdish blocs and with Sunni and Shiite blocs affected in the liberated areas and most of the provinces, not to approve the budget without modifying the allocations of all provinces," noting that " the changes in the budget reduced to 12.67%, as well as focus on the sovereign and ruling expenses that are calculated on the region, salaries of the Peshmerga and political prisoners and the entitlements of farmers and salaries of employees and compensation of martyrs and wounded and the benefits of social protection network.
The Presidency of the House of Representatives directed the Finance Committee to hold a joint meeting with the government committee and officials of the Ministry of Finance on Sunday, to discuss current and investment expenditures and borrowing and the price of oil barrels and the development of regions in line with the government program.
