Iran: Negotiations with Iraq on exporting gas have not stopped
BAGHDAD, Member of the Union of Oil and Gas Exporters and petrochemicals Company Hamid al-Hosseini announced continued negotiations between Iran and the Iraqi Oil Ministry to export Iranian gas to Iraq.
Al-Hosseini said, according to Iranian media, that the Iraqi side wants to use natural gas for industries and the housing sector, and of course these negotiations in the initial stages have not yet determined the level and time.
"The Iraqi Ministry of Oil wants to replace natural gas with diesel fuel and oil derivatives."
On whether gas exports need to establish a new pipeline, he said that the issue should be examined to see if the previous pipelines had an absorptive capacity to transport more gas or to create new pipelines. "
Negotiations for gas exports have been conducted with the former Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and are now being conducted with the Ministry of Oil.
