Iraq, Portugal Discuss The Possibility Of Achieving Cooperation Between The Ministries Of Interior Of Both Countries
Baghdad, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed with the Portuguese National Police leadership the possibility of achieving cooperation between the Ministries of Interior of both countries.
"The charge d'affaires Ali Hadi al-Bayati met the general security chief of the Portuguese National Police George Mauricio and a number of his aides at the headquarters of the Public Security Department of the Portuguese National Police in Lisbon," a foreign ministry statement said.
The charge d'affaires thanked the National Police for securing the embassy, praised the efficiency of the Portuguese security forces and discussed the possibility of achieving cooperation between the Ministries of Interior in both countries by providing training courses for the Iraqi police forces to face the challenges and responsibilities of protecting the cities.
The head of public security in the Portuguese National Police welcomed the idea of using the Portuguese experience to train the Iraqi police forces, expressing his hope for such cooperation and promised to approach leaders in Portugal to consider the possibility of achieving such cooperation.
"Portugal has many security agreements in several countries such as Algeria and Palestine, stressing the importance of openness and access to the experiences of other countries in the field of security," he said.
