The Kingdom is Keen to Take Care of its Citizens at Home and Abroad, Speaker of Shura Council Told World Parliamentarians
Geneva, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirmed that misleading campaigns against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not impede the Kingdom to commit its principles and values and will not affect its position at the Arab, Islamic and international arenas.
In his speech before 139th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Geneva, Al Al-Sheikh lauded the positive stances expressed by a number of countries, figures, organizations and parliamentary councils not being influenced by rumors and fake news.
He reiterated the call presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in intensifying international cooperation to eradicate all forms of terrorism, dry up its sources and punish its supporters.
Dr. Al Al-Sheikh affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to the importance of the political solution in Yemen based on the three references, the Gulf Initiative, outputs of the Yemen national dialogue and the UN Security Council resolution No. 2216, pointing out that the Iranian-backed Houthi militias launched 200 Iran-manufactured ballistic missiles towards the Kingdom.
He added that the Kingdom is continuing providing and facilitating the humanitarian and relief assistance to needy Yemenis as well as supporting the Yemeni economy, highlighting the Kingdom's recent $200 million grant ordered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the Central Bank of Yemen in addition to $3 billion deposited in the Yemeni bank. He affirmed that the total support proved by the Kingdom to Yemen reached more than $13 billion during the recent four years.
Dr. Al Al-Sheikh stressed that achieving security and peace is required to deter Iran of its expansionist, sabotage and hostile policies.
