Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has announced that customs land, air, and sea ports across Saudi Arabia have recorded a total of 2,124 seizures of prohibited items in a single week, emphasizing that these efforts reflect its ongoing commitment to enhancing security and protecting society from smuggling and illegal activities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, among the seizures were 98 cases involving narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, shabu, and Captagon pills, along with 256 cases of other prohibited substances. Customs authorities also thwarted more than 1,745 attempts to smuggle tobacco and its derivatives, 22 cases involving sums of money, and three cases of weapons and their accessories.
The ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening customs controls over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to ensure the safety and security of society, carrying out its mission in close cooperation with relevant authorities to combat all forms of smuggling and illegal trade.
It urged the public to participate in combating smuggling by contacting the authority at the designated number for security reports, 1910, via e-mail: 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 009661910. The ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling and violations of the Common Customs Law in strict confidentiality, offering a financial reward if the information provided is accurate.
