Al-Ghanmi: The Iraqi-Syrian border is secured after the elimination of Daesh dormant cells
BAGHDAD, The Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Othman al-Ghanmi, confirmed that the Iraqi-Syrian border is safe.
"There is coordination between Iraq and the legitimate government in Syria by sharing intelligence, in addition to intelligence coordination with neighboring countries," he said in a televised interview.
"The Iraqi army strengthens security and works to serve the citizen," he said. "Most of the desert is covered with intelligence and we do not fight against the nomads in their livelihoods."
He added that the army is working to provide security and can not be withdrawn from the cities, including Baghdad," pointing out that there will be establishments of training centers for the army, and military divisions will be restructured to keep the number fixed, in addition to the existence of a plan of training , arming and equipping our forces, and there is coordination between the army and NATO on military institutions."
