The International Coalition determines from Baghdad the number of Daesh in the Syrian Hajin area

BAGHDAD, The International Coalition has identified athe number of Daesh terrorist organization in the eastern Syria Hajin area.

"According to our estimates, the number of armed men in Hajin is between a thousand and five hundred to two thousand people," said the deputy commander of the Joint Task Force in the coalition, Gen. Christopher Gika, from Baghdad on Tuesday, adding that "the battle against Daesh in the east of the Euphrates is tough because of so many militants out there. "

"The terrorists have reinforced their defensive positions in Hajin by building fortifications and digging underground tunnels," Gika said.

Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said in his press conference yesterday that "Daesh is trying to return and recover his breath and among his terrorists who are in the areas of Syria close to Iraq, there are 2000 Iraqi terrorists trying to return and carry out their terrorist operations."

The Syrian Democratic Forces, which launched the last battle in Hajin against Daesh with the support of the US in September 10, said some 3,000 militants were holed up in the region, one of the last pockets of the organization in Syria.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry sent letters to the United Nations and the Security Council condemning the raids of the International Coalition on Hajin and its surroundings, which resulted in the killing of dozens of civilians.
