Bahrain announces its candidacy for HRC membership
Manama, Bahrain officially announced its candidacy for the membership of the Human Rights Council for the term 2019-2021, after having garnered the support of Arab and Asian blocs, it was reported here today.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain briefed, at an introductory meeting at its headquarters, the Arab Ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain on its candidacy for membership for the HRC of the United Nations in Geneva for the period 2019-2021, after receiving the support of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level and the endorsement of the Asia-Pacific group at the United Nations.
The Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur al-Doseri gave a detailed explanation on Bahrain's candidacy for the membership of the United Nations HRC for the period 2019-2021 at elections scheduled for New York City next October.
