Hariri receives DousteBlazy and Venezuelan ambassador

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri received today at the Center House the United Nations Special Adviser on Innovative Financing for Development Philippe Douste-Blazy, in the presence of MP Dima Jamali. They discussed the means to benefit from the UN expertise to solve the waste crisis in Tripoli in an ecofriendly way.

Hariri met with the Venezuelan ambassador to Lebanon, Souad Karam and discussed with her the latest developments.

He also received a delegation from the Jamaa Islamiya that included its secretary-general Azzam Ayoubi, the head of its political bureau Bassam Hammoud and the head of its political department, former MP Imad Hout, who said after the meeting:

"The visit comes in the framework of the consultation regarding the formation of the government and the crisis that the country is facing.

We conveyed to his Excellency the feelings of the people regarding the repeated attempts to obstruct the formation of the government and to try to impose a hegemony on the political track in the country and disempower a Lebanese component. We agreed that part of the problem is the attempt by some to impose standards for the formation of the government that are contrary to the Constitution and the powers of the Prime Minister-designate to form it in the manner he deems appropriate.

We also agreed that no one claims to monopolize the representation of the Sunni Sect, but, also, the representation should be based on a genuine popular presence, and on a real political bloc. The blocs are determined during the consultations, whether with the President of the Republic to choose the prime Minister-designate, or with the Prime minister designate.

In both cases, the blocs were clear and there was a clear path, but suddenly a new problem emerged, which means that there is a will to disrupt the course in the country. We also agreed that within the framework of the existing balances in the country there is a real desire to have a kind of meeting that brings together all the pillars of the sect so we can give a clear signal that the sect is fine and strong, thanks to the strength of its pillars and their unity. It is indeed the safety valve of this country and when the sect is fine the whole country is fine".
