FM receives a copy of the credentials of the Swiss Ambassador residing in Iraq

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received a copy of the credentials of the Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hohn.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed, according to a statement by the ministry, the reopening of the Swiss embassy in the capital, Baghdad, after 33 years of closure, stressing: “This step is important in the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland, and reflects the desire of both sides to consolidate cooperation in various fields.”

He added: “The reopening of the Swiss embassy represents an important positive step in strengthening the diplomatic relations and opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples,” stressing the Iraqi government’s support for the success of the mission of the Swiss mission in Baghdad.

For his part, Ambassador Hohn expressed his thanks and appreciation to Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, expressing his country’s a
spiration to strengthen relations with Iraq in various fields, in a way that enhances the common ties between the two friendly countries.
