Foreign minister hails strong Bahrain-UK relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, currently on a visit to the United Kingdom, today held a meeting with the Minister of State for the Middle East at the U.K Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Alistair Burt.

Shaikh Khalid lauded the strong historic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

He affirmed the pride of the Kingdom of Bahrain in bilateral relations, based on strong foundations of mutual respect, fruitful cooperation and joint coordination.

The minister pointed out the importance of continuing the exchange of visits between officials of the two countries to achieve the common goals of the two countries.

Shaikh Khalid commended the significant role played by the United Kingdom in countering terrorism in all its forms, and stressed that the opening of the British Naval Support Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain reflects the commitment of the United Kingdom towards Bahrain and the region in general.

He also stressed the importance of continued cooperation between international partners to protect stability and security for a safer environment for all.

Mr. Burt affirmed the keenness of the United Kingdom to develop its strong historical relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

He also praised Bahrain's progress and development in various fields, wishing the Kingdom continued development and prosperity.
