Foreign Ministry applies principle of reciprocity

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants announced in a statement on Friday its application of the principle of reciprocity.

"Based on the principle of reciprocity that lies at the heart of international agreements on the immunities and privileges accorded to representatives of States, all foreign embassies accredited in Lebanon have been informed of the strict application of this principle when accessing the honored guests' VIP Lounge at Rafic Hariri International Airport to welcome foreign official delegations and heads of missions visiting Lebanon, "the statement said.

"Accordingly, this privilege shall be granted only to certain categories of State officials who have exchanged the same formal welcome with Lebanese officials," the statement went on.

"As for official figures whose countries do not share the same courtesy, their embassies will have to follow the financial procedures for accessing the Airport's VIP Lounge for a financial allowance," the statement concluded.
