General Authority for Competition Concludes Participation in Global Forum on Competition in Paris

Paris: The General Authority for Competition, led by CEO Dr. Fahad Alshathri, has concluded its international participation in the Global Forum on Competition, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, alongside the meetings of the Competition Committee, held in Paris from December 1 to 5. According to Saudi Press Agency, Alshathri's participation included a wide range of specialized discussions, during which he chaired a session titled 'Competition in the Healthcare Sector,' moderated a panel on healthcare markets, and presented several working papers addressing artificial intelligence and competition dynamics, as well as competition enforcement in informal markets. The authority continued its engagement over the following days by taking part in several specialized seminars and sessions focused on market studies, analytical tools, and the balance between prudential regulation and competition considerations in the banking sector. In his capacity as Chairman of the Arab Competiti on Network, Alshathri also participated in an informal meeting of Middle Eastern and North African countries, during which he reviewed the progress made by the Arab Competition Network and the work of its specialized working groups. These international engagements reflect the General Authority for Competition's commitment to strengthening the Kingdom's presence in global forums, exchanging international expertise, and enhancing cooperation among relevant entities in the field of competition. This approach contributes to the development of policies and procedures and supports the establishment of a fair and effective competitive environment, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
