Berri, interlocutors tackle overall situation
House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday welcomed at his Ain Tineh residence a delegation of the "Consultative Gathering" of Sunni MPs, who offered well-wishes on the holy Adha Eid.
The delegation included MPs Rahim Murad, Jihad al-Samad, Adnan Trabulsi, Qassem Hashem and Waleed Sukkarieh.
Speaking in the wake of the meeting, MP Murad said that they took up with the Speaker an array of developmental matters. The Lawmaker hoped that balanced development would be applied across all Lebanese regions.
Murad also said that talks touched on issues related to the government formation, in the hope that the new Cabinet would be formed soon.
The MP called for the formation of the new government on the basis of the priciple of balance according to the results of the recent parliamentary elections. He also hoped that all sides would be represented in the Cabinet.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri welcomed Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abdel Karim Ali, who well-wished the Speaker on the holy Adha Eid.
On emerging, Ambassador Ali said that they discussed issues on the regional arena.
Ali urged political forces for a reading of the Lebanese-Syrian brotherly relations in a way that serves the interest of both countries, saying the repatriation of Syrian refugees to their homeland can be undertaken through complementarity between both countries' governments.
In reply to a question, Ali said that the brotherly relations between the two countries necessitate a more realistic and acceptable discourse.
