Haniyeh, Aoun discuss by phone Mieh w Mieh refugee camp situation: Lebanon’s security is Palestinian priority
Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, telephoned this morning President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, to discuss the deteriorating situation in the camp of Mieh w Mieh and the ongoing clashes there.
"The security of Lebanon is a Palestinian priority, which is what the Palestinians have practically translated by neutralizing their camps from the events in the region and not allowing them to be a starting point for any harmful event to Lebanon and its security," Haniyeh said, according to a statement.
He also uttered the keenness of the Palestinians in Lebanon on the Lebanese-Palestinian brotherly relations and the need to promote them.
Haniyeh stressed that "the security of the camps and their environs has a Palestinian consensus," and both sides reportedly agreed that "what is going on in the camp of Mieh w Mieh must stop the soonest possible, and does not serve the Palestinian cause."
He finally underlined "concerted efforts to stop the Palestinian bleeding and achieve the larger goal: the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes from which they were displaced."
