Ministerial Emergency Meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers Calls for Development Plans to Support Al-Quds Al-Sharif, commuique says 2 Jeddah
The executive committee of the special meeting issued a final statement, which reads as follows: "The Executive Committee at its Extraordinary Open-ended Meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers held at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 to consider the escalation of the Israeli colonial violations in an attempt to change the historical and legal status of the Holy City of Al-Quds.
Based on the principles and objectives of the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and on the decisions of the Islamic summits, the latest of which was the 14th session asserting that the issue of Al-Quds Al-Sharif is the essence of the question of Palestine, and that a comprehensive and just peace can only be achieved by ending the Israeli colonial occupation of the State of Palestine and at the heart of which is the eternal capital city of the State of Palestine, and reaffirms all resolutions adopted by the relevant sixth and seventh extraordinary Islamic conferences and meetings, including those adopted by Al-Quds Committee at its previous sessions, as well as reaffirms all relevant international resolutions, including resolutions of the General Assembly of the United Nations, including resolution A / ES-10/19 on the status of Jerusalem at the tenth emergency special session on December 21, 2017, the UN Security Council and the resolutions of UNESCO, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on 9/7/2004 and the conferences of the High Agreed Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 on the applicability of the Convention to the territory of the State of Palestine, including Jerusalem, to comprise the protection of civilians in times of war,"
In its statement, the Committee expressed its concern at the continued attempts to change the historical and legal status of the occupied city of Al-Quds and the transfer of the diplomatic missions of some states to it, condemning any positions, actions and decisions being aimed at changing the status of the occupied city of the holy city.
In its strongest terms, the OIC Executive Committee condemned in its statement the escalation by Israel of its colonial actions in Al-Quds Al-Sharif and its attempts to alter the character and demographic composition of the city, including its recent attempt to falsify historical facts and its opening of the so-called "Jewish Pilgrims Route" which extends from Birket Silwan to the Wall of Al-Buraq under Palestinian homes in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is a clear violation of international law and relevant international resolutions.
