Speaker of Arab Parliament Condemns Terrorist Attack on Oil Facilities in Saudi Arabia
Belgrade, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami affirmed his organization's condemnation in the strongest terms of the sabotage aggression against the oil facilities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures it takes to preserve its security, stability and the safety of its vital facilities.
Speaking at the 141st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference in Belgrade, Serbia, today, Dr. Al-Salami said that the world has witnessed serious developments in the Arab Gulf region in the past few months affecting the international peace and security.
These developments violated the international law and the UN Charter and threatened shipping routes and international trade by targeting and detaining commercial ships, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, which has a great importance to the movement of oil and commercial tankers, he said.
He added that the seriousness of these challenges culminated in deliberately attacking the oil facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to disrupt the supply of global energy and impact oil prices.
