Hariri receives Bruno Foucher, Joanna Azzi, Farid Belhaj

Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri received today at the "Center House" the French Ambassador to Lebanon Bruno Foucher.

PM Hariri also received the World Bank Group Vice President for Middle East and North Africa Farid Belhaj, the Regional Director of the Bank Saroj Kumar Jha and the Bank's representative in Lebanon Mona Fawzi.

After the meeting, Belhaj said: "We had meetings today with President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Hariri. We discussed all aspects of the World Bank's relationship with Lebanon, which is an old and rooted relationship in the history of the Bank and Lebanon. We discussed all the topics related to social and economic situations in the country, especially the various projects of the World Bank, which is the focus of study at the level of the Council of Ministers or the Parliament.

It was a positive meeting, and hopefully these projects will be implemented through the direct relationship between the bank and the Lebanese citizen."

Question: Is there a real fear on the economic situation in Lebanon?

Belhaj: There is no fear, but the economic situation in Lebanon is delicate, so we have to have a point of view that is consistent with the government's point of view, which is to embark on a new phase of reforms, especially for the energy, water and new technology sectors to attract investments.
