Jeddah Historic District Program Joins World Heritage Day 2025 Celebration

Jeddah: The Jeddah Historic District Program, under the Ministry of Culture, has participated in the World Heritage Day 2025 celebration organized by the Heritage Commission in Riyadh. The event, running from April 16 to 21, celebrates Saudi Arabia’s cultural and human heritage, reflecting the ministry’s efforts to raise community awareness about the significance of preserving heritage.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program’s participation reaffirms the ministry’s role in safeguarding and revitalizing the urban and cultural fabric of Historic Jeddah, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The program is leveraging the celebration to highlight restoration efforts and provide an interactive experience that introduces visitors to crafts, architectural elements, and human stories. QR codes are also utilized to showcase archaeological discoveries through a 360-degree interactive display, allowing for virtual exploration.

The program’s engagement is an extension of the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to Vision 2030, which emphasizes the value of heritage in enhancing national identity and achieving sustainable development. The ministry is also dedicated to spotlighting Historic Jeddah as a cultural and heritage destination, showcasing its historical and urban assets while broadening its presence in events that highlight its rich heritage and unique cultural experiences.
