Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Justice has implemented a centralized court model, marking a significant reform aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of judicial processes across legislative, procedural, professional, and technological domains.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the model has been initially applied to select labor courts of first instance and appellate levels, establishing advanced standards for each domain. In the legislative domain, it ensures precise application of legal provisions to case facts. Specialized judicial panels, composed of members with defined professional qualifications and expertise, are formed to handle similar cases, promoting consistent and high-quality judicial outcomes while expediting case reviews.
In the procedural domain, the model enhances the substantive quality of judgments and minimizes dismissals due to lack of territorial jurisdiction by allowing cases to be adjudicated without geographical constraints. This approach also reduces the average duration of cases by distributing them based on court capacity rather than location.
In the professional domain, the model fosters expertise among judicial panels in Saudi courts, elevates human resource capabilities, and integrates specialized skills to optimize judicial performance.
In the technological domain, the adoption of artificial intelligence tools aims to improve judgment quality, reduce inconsistencies in rulings for similar cases, and align with modern advancements in the justice sector.
