KDP, PUK Are Preparing To Draft A Joint Working Paper In Baghdad

Baghdad, This week is expected to witness a series of meetings between the delegations of the Kurdistan region and other Iraqi parties, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) will jointly hold a joint working paper at these meetings and have formed a joint committee of the political offices of the two parties to prepare this joint Program.

"We want to be dealing with the Kurdistan region within the framework of the Iraqi constitution, and we have confirmed during our meetings to follow the principle of consensus and partnership and balance," said the official of the fifth branch of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Baghdad, added "we did not talk with other Iraqi parties in the details of the Kurdish demands, and we will talk about them in the next negotiations, and we do not have conditions to enter the dialogue, but we have points to negotiate.

He explained that "there are outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad since 2003, and a set of other problems were added to them in the last four years, will be included in the Kurdish working paper in the next Iraqi government, and will negotiate with the Iraqi parties about them."

He added, "The most important points that will be negotiated by the Kurds: the return of the Peshmerga to the disputed areas, the appointment of a Kurdish governor of Kirkuk, the implementation of Article 140 of the Constitution, and the pledge not to repeat the imposition of sanctions on the Kurdistan region, the distribution of Iraqi posts on the components, financial budget of the Peshmerga and oil and energy.

"The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) will have a unified package in negotiations to form the new Iraqi government, and they hope that the other Kurdish parties that have seats in the house will join them," said PUK spokesman Saadi Ahmed Bira, and we will also call on those parties.
