Kuwait Announces A Government Meeting On Tuesday To Discuss The Events In Iraq
BAGHDAD, Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim announced that a meeting will be held in the National Assembly between the deputies and the Kuwaiti government on Tuesday to discuss a parliamentary request on the preparations for all possibilities regarding the events in Iraq.
Al-Ghanim told reporters that "at the request of a group of deputies on the latest developments in Iraq, I spoke with acting Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and agreed to hold the meeting."
"The meeting will be attended by the concerned ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, to respond to the inquiries of deputies and to know the latest developments related to events near the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border."
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi received a phone call from Kuwait's emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah on Sunday.
Sheikh Sabah confirmed that "The State of Kuwait is ready to provide all that would help Iraq during the coming period of construction, reconstruction and stability in addition to assistance in some projects, including water desalination in the province of Basra and other projects.
