BACA President receives renowned expert
Manama, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa received world-renowned expert Dr. Michel Kut at the Bahrain National Theatre.
The expert came on visit at the invitation of the Bahrain-based Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) to conduct a field study on the historic city of Manama, assess urban heritage and recommends ways of protecting its heritage. The meeting was attended by ARC-WH director Dr. Shadia Touqan.
BACA is currently compiling a dossier to nominate Manama, in a bid to enter the World Heritage List as city of peace and co-existence.
The expert held a series of meetings with competent authorities, including the Capital Trustees' Board, the Urban Planning and Development Authority and Manama traders.
Dr. Kut currently works as an advisor for the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) a professional association that works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places around the world.
