BACA president visits iconic schools
Manama, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa paid a field visit to a number of historic educational buildings in Bahrain. Shaikha Mai met officials representing the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
The tour included the Mariam bint Omran Primary School for Girls, Oman ibn Al-Khattab Primary and Intermediate School for Boys, which were constructed respectively in 1948 and 1954. BACA president stressed the importance of revamping the two iconic schools and preserve them so that they could regain their role and provide an adequate educational environment.
Shaikha Mai underlined the need to conserve the architectural features of the two decades-old schools to stand as a testament to the vital role in spearheading the development of the educational system in Bahrain amid preparations to celebrate next year the centennial of formal education in the Kingdom.
