Foreign Ministry’s undersecretary meets Romanian State Secretary

Manama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met today he State Secretary for Bilateral Affairs and Global Affairs, Gheorghita Monica of the Republic of Romania, on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue Forum in its 14th edition.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa welcomed the participation of the Romanian official in the forum, considering it an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues and to consolidate security and stability in light of regional developments and events, a situation that necessitates coordination among friendly countries.

They discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries, regional and international developments and ways to build bilateral partnership within the framework of harmonious visions and common benefits.

The foreign policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Romania are compatible vis-A�-vis many Middle East issues, based on common keenness to strengthen international cooperation, sustainable development and support peace and stability efforts, Shaikh Abdullah said.

The Kingdom of Bahrain looks forward to diversifying its relations with the Republic of Romania as it is one of the important countries in the Balkans and a NATO member, and which will preside over the next session of the European Union 2019.

He noted that the two countries have common advantages that have to cash on in and built upon towards further development of their relations at various levels, especially in the economic, investment, tourism and cultural fields in the upcoming period.

Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said that the Kingdom of Bahrain accords high priority to investments in thought, moderation discourse, youth, development and regional and international partnerships to counter the threat of terrorism,.

More and more efforts still have to be exerted to punish the sponsors of terrorism and those who finance and shelter terrorist groups, he affirmed.

The Romanian State Secretary for Bilateral Affairs and Global Affairs stressed her country's keenness to establish excellent friendship and constructive cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels to meet the aspirations of the two friendly countries, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
