Lebanese, Portuguese ambassadors appointed to lead negotiations on global environmental pact
The new president of the United Nations General Assembly renewed, in a letter, the appointment of Ambassador of Lebanon to the United Nations, Amal Mdallali, and the Ambassador of Portugal, Francisco Duarte Lopez, to lead the negotiations over a global environmental pact.
Ambassador Mdallali was appointed for the first time back in June.
Lebanon and Portugal have been selected from 192 countries to lead the negotiations on the environmental agreement to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in January, February and May next year (2019).
During his visit to New York last September, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Ambassadors Mdallali and Lopez, and discussed with them the agreement and its importance to the environment worldwide.
