Othman, Shorter discuss British policing support project
The Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Othman, received on Wednesday the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter, on top of a delegation from the Embassy.
The delegation included Head of Embassy's Conflict Stability & Security Fund, Tom Hartley, Security and Defense Program Officer, Sarah Kronfol, and the British Policing Support Project team.
Also attending had been Head of ISF Academy General Ahmad Hajjar, Head of Mobile Forces General Fouad Khoury, Head of Beirut Police General Mohamad Ayoubi, Inspector General Joseph Kallas, and other ISF officials.
Talks reportedly touched on the already implemented stages and future steps within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Interior Ministry/ISF Directorate General concerning the British Policing Support Project.
Maj. Gen. Othman honored Hartley with a shield upon the end of his mission in Lebanon.
On the other hand, Othman met with a delegation of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), who came on a visit aimed at bolstering existing coordination between ISF and the Mission.
Earlier, Othman met with MP Eddy Abi Lamaa, with talks between the pair reportedly touching on the general situation in the country.
The ISF chief later met with Beirut Governor, Judge Ziad Chbib, and head of Beirut Municipality, Jamal Itani, with whom he discussed the current situation in the capital and means of activating cooperation between the ISF and municipal security forces in order to reach solutions to alleviate heavy traffic crisis.
