Aoun pays tribute to Lebanese fathers, salutes their struggle amid difficult circumstances
President of the Republic General Michel Aoun greeted all Lebanese Fathers on "Father's Day" and said that "every Lebanese father, with every challenge he faces, reflects the image of Lebanon."
President Aoun praised the "sacrifices made by fathers at all the stages of life, especially amid difficult circumstances, in order to secure a decent life for their families."
"I congratulate Lebanese fathers, and I realize their daily suffering," Aoun said, "greeting fathers (...) wherever they are, as they remain the ultimate idol and the example to follow."
"We cannot forget about the Lebanese nation's fathers who, from generation to generation, represent a motive for us to safeguard Lebanon and to promote its mission in its region and the world," he went on to say.
On this occasion, President Aoun honored Maroun Boulos Younis, from the southern town of Dibel, the patriarch of a family of 12.
The family of Maroun Younis received an honorary shield during a ceremony held by Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, last year in honor of large families. It is to note that this family is the largest in the town of Dibel in Bint Jbeil.
President Aoun stressed that his main concern, since his return to Lebanon in 2005, has been to address the repercussions of the Israeli occupation and lift the burden off the shoulders of the inhabitants of the border region.
He also congratulated Maroun on "the responsibility he has borne in raising his big family despite the difficult circumstances," not forgetting the mother who has sacrificed everything for the sake of her children.
The Baabda Palace also witnessed meetings that dwelled on political, social and developmental topics. In this context, President Aoun received a delegation from the "Maronite Foundation for Diaspora " headed by MP Nehmat Efram, who briefed the President on the activities of the Foundation inside and outside Lebanon, and the dossiers that it follows up on, including the naturalization issue.
The delegation presented to President Aoun a detailed study of Naturalization Decree No. 5247 issued in 1994, and its negative repercussions on the balance in Lebanon.
