European leaders sign off on UK’s Brexit deal
Brussels, Europe's leaders have approved Theresa May's Brexit deal, ending 18 months of negotiations and paving the way for a bruising UK parliamentary battle over its ratification.
Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council, confirmed that EU27 leaders, meeting for a special summit in Brussels, had signed off the treaty setting out the terms of the UK's departure from the bloc, as well as the political declaration on future relations with Britain, Financial Times reported.
This is the best outcome with no political winners or losers, Mark Rutte, the Dutch prime minister, said as he arrived at the summit meeting.
