Kurdish deputy: The Delay In Resolving The Candidate For President Caused By Incompatibility Of The Two Main Parties On One Candidate
Baghdad, The member of the House of Representatives for the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Mohammad Amin Faris confirmed that "the reason for delay nomination of a candidate for the post of President of the Republic is the incompatibility of the two main parties / KDP and PUK/ so far on a candidate."
"So far, there are several candidates that have not been agreed upon by one of the two main parties," Faris told NINA, added "It takes a meeting between the two sides to resolve the issue."
"The role of the president of the republic is not important for the Kurds, as important as the implementation of Kurdish legal and constitutional demands submitted to the political blocs, which also represent the demands of all Iraqis."
The agenda of the parliamentary session on Tuesday does not include a vote on the candidate for the post of President of the Republic, and it is expected to take another days for the two parties to agree on the Kurdish candidate.
