NIHR’s committee holds meeting
The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR)'s Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee held its fourteenth regular meeting, under the chairmanship of Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain.
Members Abdulla Ahmed Al-Derazi and Wedad Radhi Al Moosawi also attended.
The panel discussed the reslutions and recommendations of its previous meetings, and reviewed what has been done regarding them so far.
The committee discussed a proposal to hold a semiar in the fourth quarter of this year on sustainable development goals (SDGs) to shed light on the kingdom's steps to achieve those goals, as well as the challenges it is facing in this regard.
Relevant parties such as NGOs, the Shura Council, the Representatives Council, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Foreign Ministry, the Labour and Social Development Ministry and the Supreme Council for Women are expected to be invited to the seminar.
The committee also praised the royal directives to distribute housing units, and commendd the government's keenness to ensure the citizens' easy access to housing services without delay.
In this context, the panel lauded the efforts of the Housing Ministry to increase housing gains in the kingdom.
