Saudi Crown Prince: We Prefer A Political Solution With Iran Rather Than War
BAGHDAD, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said he favors a political solution with Iran rather than a war with it.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in an interview with the US channel CBS, said on Sunday: "Aramco attack did not only hit the heart of the Saudi energy industry, but the heart of the global energy industry. It has disrupted 5.5% of the world's energy needs, and the needs of the United States and China and the whole world. "
"Saudi air defenses, from US Patriot and Hawk missile systems were not designed to shoot down drones," he said.
On the impact of the war between Saudi Arabia and Iran on the region, he explained: "The region provides the world with about 30% of the energy supply, and about 20% of the global trade corridors are located in the region, and if these things stopped, it would mean a total collapse of the global economy, not only Saudi Arabia or Middle Eastern countries. "
"If the world does not take strong and decisive action to deter Iran, we will see further escalation that threatens global interests. Oil supplies will be disrupted and oil prices will jump to unimaginable or high numbers," he stressed.
Bin Salman called on US President Donald Trump to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to formulate a new deal on Tehran's nuclear program and its influence in the Middle East.
