Pope in letter to Aoun: To continue working with Lebanon in service of peace and dialogue
Pope Francis underlined in a letter to President Michel Aoun on Wednesday, the Holy See's determination to carry on working with Lebanon in service of peace, dialogue, and justice in the world.
In a letter delivered upon the fifth anniversary of his papal inauguration, Pope Francis renewed his love for Lebanon and the Lebanese.
Aoun has separately met at Baabda palace with Caretaker Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Cesar Abi Khalil, over latest developments regarding the offshore oil and gas exploration.
Moreover, Aoun discussed the current situation on the local and regional scenes with MP Jean Obeid.
He also received Lebanese Central Bank Governor, Riyad Salame, who reassured his host on the persistent monetary stability.
The President later welcomed Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Fathali, who came on a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
During the meeting, Aoun thanked his guest for the efforts he had exerted throughout his mandate to bolster the Lebanese-Iranian bilateral ties.
Furthermore, the President received a delegation of Imam Moussa Sadr's family, chaired by his sister Rabab Sadr Charafeddine.
