Reception marking Chinese Liberation Army’s 91st founding anniversary

Marking the 91st anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Liberation Army, the Military Attache at the Chinese Embassy in Beirut, Col. Haicheng Ouyang, held a reception at the Central Military Club, attended by Brigadier General Nawaf Al-Jabbawi, representing Defense Minister Yacoub Sarraf, and Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on head of a military delegation, alongside several other prominent military and security officials and members of the Chinese contingent operating within UNIFIL in South Lebanon.

In his word on the occasion, Colonel Ouyang said, “Today marks the 91st anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Liberation Army, 91 years of ongoing difficulties and we will never forget why we began…The many twists and turns witnessed by the People’s Liberation Army made it stronger than ever, especially in recent years led by President Xi Jinping and the Central Military Commission.”

“Following the reform of the PLA, these armed forces have become active in every aspect in confronting the international challenges and the complex security environment,” he added.

“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army is ready to carry out any mission at any time, and China will always be a peace-loving country and we will forever be a steadfast force to maintain peace and justice in the world,” Ouyang underlined.

“China is taking on more international responsibilities, playing important roles in the United Nations peacekeeping operation,” the Chinese Military Attache went on. He noted that his country “is among the permanent members of the UN Security Council and ranks first in the number of troops sent to peacekeeping missions and second in the financing of peacekeeping expenses.”

Col. Ouyang confirmed that “China will surely adopt a more open approach and will try to build a common future society for mankind with all nations.”

“We would also like to cooperate with all countries and peoples of the Middle East, except for the various negative factors, to work on development and promote peace, and urge all parties to be more comprehensive and conciliatory to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome,” Ouyang emphasized.
