Berri tackles overall situation with Iraqi FM, British ambassador
House Speaker Nabih Berri, on Tuesday met at his Ain Tineh residence with the new Iraqi Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohammad Ali al-Hakim, with whom he discussed most recent developments in the region and the bilateral ties.
Al-Hakim assumed the post of the Undersecretary-General of the United Nations and the Executive Secretary of ESCWA based in Beirut.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri welcomed British Ambassador to Lebanon, Chris Rampling, with talks reportedly touching on the general situation in Lebanon and the broad region.
On emerging, Ambassador Rampling said this was his third visit to the Speaker, saying they had good discussions on regional affairs and the bilateral relations.
"I look forward to continuing work with the Speaker and with all Lebanese institutions," the UK envoy maintained.
Asked about the government issue, Rampling expressed his country's wish that Lebanon would have a new Cabinet as soon as possible, noting "there had been progress on this issue in the past few days."
Later, Berri met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ihor Ostach, with talks between the pair reportedly touching the bilateral ties and the regional situation.
