First Bahraini woman to hold high position in energy sector
Manama, On the occasion of appointment of AfafZainalabedine as General Manager for Finance and admin. in the Oil and Gas Holding Company B.S.C.(c) (nogaholding), Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, celebrated on Tuesday the first of its kind in the history of the sector. This comes in compliance with the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeekabint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) in the empowerment of women in all fields.
This affirms the belief of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) to empower Bahraini women in the oil and gas and petrochemical sector based on Resolution 5/2018, the restructured permanent committee for equal opportunities in the National Oil and Gas Authority. The celebration held in the presence of Acting Chief Executive Officer of Nogaholding, Dr. Dhafer Al Jalahma and senior officials of the NOGA.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, paid the highest tribute to HRH Princess Sabeekabint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for the unlimited support to Bahraini women in all public and private sectors as well as her appreciation for the role of women and their valuable contributions in all developmental fields in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Sh. Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, praised the professional career of AfafZainalabedin, who has a distinguished history at the scientific and practical levels. She is a Fellow member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) UK and Wales, and a BSC holder in Accounting (honors) from the University of Bahrain, joined nogaholding in September 2014. Her extensive experience covers banking, finance, accounting, auditing, assurance, consultancy and training. His Excellency praised as well the efforts exerted by her to create a productive and supportive work environment, management skills and a great practical experience in the management of individuals and performance, which have contributed effectively to achieve the strategic goals of the nogaholding in a professional way.
His Excellency stressed that the National Oil and Gas Authority pays particular attention to the empowerment of women and the sustainability of their professional development and ability enhancement to participate effectively in all fields of the oil and gas sector in line with the vision of wise leadership to support women as a key partner in the development in Bahrain. "The long-term success and sustainability of the oil and gas industry depends heavily on developing the capabilities of its human capital, including women, supporting the best Bahraini talent and competencies, for innovation, leadership and achievement in the oil and gas industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain" Minister said.
AfafZainalabedine, General Manager for Finance and admin at nogaholding, expressed her great pleasure in this celebration and expressed her great gratitude to His Excellency the Minister of Oil Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for his kind support. She stressed in continuing working hard, in a spirit of team work to achieve the strategic objectives of the National Oil and Gas Authority ( NOGA ) and nogaholding as well as the oil and gas and petrochemical sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
