Taif: Taif roses are celebrated for their distinctive aroma and the intricate process involved in their cultivation, harvesting, and production, making them one of the Kingdom’s most prized natural perfume products. These roses are not just agricultural products but are also significant cultural symbols closely associated with the region’s heritage and tourism.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Taif rose farms, exceeding 910 in number, are spread across areas such as Al-Hada, Al-Shafa, Wadi Muharram, Al-Wahat, Al-Wahit, and Wadi Liya. These farms collectively host around 1,144,000 rose bushes, spanning approximately 270 hectares of agricultural land. Annually, they produce nearly 550 million roses, all harvested during a short season lasting no more than 45 days, from early March to the end of April.
This concentrated harvest period results in the production of approximately 20,000 tolas of Taif rose oil. Each tola requires about 12,000 roses, handpicked at dawn and distilled within 24 hours to ensure the fragrance’s purity and quality before it is marketed.
